Here are the basic guidelines for tagging most items:
- Hang your item on the hanger with the hook facing left, like a question mark (?) items that are not correctly hung will have to be set aside and fixed before items are accepted.
- If your item slips off easily, consider adding tape to the hanger and insert the pin through the tape. This works great on shorts, pants, and skirts. This is important because we don't want your items falling into the floor and becoming dirty which can hurt the chance of the item selling.
Creating Your Tag
- Use 3×5 index cards (no lines) to create your tags.
- Write your card in BLACK ink. IF you want your item to be discounted to 50% off on our two discount days, circle the price in RED only if you want that item to be discounted.
- Don’t overprice. Consider a price that YOU would buy!
- Consignor Number in the upper left hand corner of the card.
- Size of your item in the upper right hand corner of the card.
- Men’s, Women’s, Junior’s, Boy’s, or Girl’s written above the size.
- In the middle of your card write a brief description. (Brand, Color, Type)
- In the bottom right hand corner write the price of your item ($3 minimum, whole dollars ONLY, no .50 or .25 increments)
- Please be specific in your description of your item. If your tag gets separated from the item, the brand, description, and size you write will help us match the tag to your item. If an item has a lost or inaccurate tag, it will not be sold.
We also have a new tag template that allows you to create your tags online and print out! Here is the link: https://rerunsconsignment.com/blogs/news/tagging-template
Attaching Your Tags
There are several ways to attach your tag to your item. Options are listed below. The zip tie option is preferred because this allows you to attach your tag while adding zero holes to your clothes.
- ZIP TIE OPTION (preferred option) - Using a hole puncher, punch a hole in your tag about 1/2" down from the top of the card in the center. Using a small zip tie, attach the card to the RIGHT side of your hanger. This option is preferred as it is less time consuming and allows you to attach your tag WITHOUT adding any holes into your clothes! To be quite honest, we are begging you to use this option. :) Holes in your items can hurt your chances of selling. Zip ties can be purchased at Walmart, Lowes, and Amazon ($5 for 200).
- Price Tagging Gun- These can be purchased on Amazon for under $10. If you choose to use this option, you MUST place the tag needle in-between seams or the brand tag. If not, it will create a hole in your item. Holes due to improper tagging can hurt your chances of selling.
- Safety Pins- We will be honest, this option is very time consuming and can create holes in your items. If you choose to use this option, DO NOT use small safety pins.
Non-Clothing Items
- Shoes need to be tied together (zip ties, twine, ribbon). Shoes CANNOT be taped together or in a ziplock bag.
